The Badilika Youth Festival: a committed event for the climate and the environment

The Badilika Youth Festival returns for its 3rd edition in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo, with the theme of revaluing biodiversity and combating climate change. Fatshimetrie, November 4, 2024 – The 3rd edition of the Badilika Youth Festival will be held from November 29 to December 1 in Bukavu, in the heart of the South Kivu province, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Under the theme “Effective revaluation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change for a better future”, this event aims to be a catalyst for raising awareness on environmental and climate issues.

The organizers, led by Janvier Mushagalusa, director of the festival, stressed the importance of raising awareness among the population and authorities on good practices in environmental protection. They highlight the use of art and culture as privileged means to spread these essential messages. In addition, fundraising during the festival will be used to support concrete actions such as reforestation and environmental restoration in Bukavu.

This initiative aims to be a step towards a sustainable future by rebalancing the cultural sector and promoting inclusion at all levels. Local artists, dancers and entrepreneurs are strongly encouraged to participate in this event, thus providing a platform to highlight talents often marginalized in this type of event.

The festival program includes castings in the cities of Kabare and Kalehe, discussion panels, a press conference, exhibitions and sales of green and artisanal products, as well as artistic performances that will punctuate these three days of festivities. In addition, a post-festival activity is planned to reforest with 1500 seedlings, thus contributing to the preservation of the region’s environment.
