**Fatshimetrie: Mbanza-Ngungu Primary School Impacted by Bad Weather**
Students at Mbanza Primary School, located in Mbanza-Ngungu in Kongo-Central Province, have been in a critical situation for almost a week. The recent bad weather has caused significant damage to the school’s infrastructure, jeopardizing the safety of students.
The school building was severely damaged following a violent gust of wind accompanied by heavy rain. The roof was torn off, leaving the school vulnerable to the elements. The Deputy Director of the Mbanza-Ngungu 1 Educational Province, Alphonse Nsituvanga, stressed that the current conditions do not allow students to be accommodated safely. The cracks caused by the bad weather make the building unstable.
This situation leaves more than nine hundred students deprived of education. It is imperative that emergency measures be taken to ensure that they can continue their education. Alphonse Nsituvanga calls on the relevant authorities to rebuild the school as soon as possible, so as not to compromise the students’ school year.
The Mbanza primary school has nine classes, with a total of 937 students, including 495 girls and 452 boys. It is an educational institution initiated by the Church of Christ in the World, and plays a vital role in the education of children in the Revolution district of Mbanza-Ngungu.
To temporarily alleviate the situation, tarpaulins have been installed in the schoolyard. These tarpaulins, provided by UNICEF to the Kongo-Central 2 educational province for emergency situations, provide temporary protection for students and school staff. However, it is essential to carry out a rapid and solid reconstruction of the school to ensure a safe and adequate learning environment.
The local community and authorities are called upon to mobilize in support of the Mbanza school, in order to guarantee a stable educational future for the children of the region. Education is an essential pillar of development, and it is essential to ensure that all children have access to quality education, in safe and motivating conditions.
