Fatshimetrie recently announced a new cooperation agreement between France and the Central African Republic (CAR) for a significant financial aid of 10 million euros. This aid is intended to support various key sectors such as governance, education and the organization of elections in the CAR.

After a three-year suspension, France has decided to resume its budgetary aid to the CAR, marking a warming of relations between the two countries. The signing of this crucial agreement took place on November 13, 2024 in Bangui, in the presence of the French Ambassador and the Minister of Finance of the CAR.

This financing of 10 million euros will be allocated to three strategic areas to promote the economic stability and development of the country. First, part of this money will be used to support economic and financial governance by streamlining and modernizing tax revenue collection procedures. By investing in the digitalization of public administrations and the strengthening of human capital, it is expected to increase the revenues of the Central African State.

Another component of this aid aims to contribute to the reduction of domestic arrears, in particular to support the education sector. The objective is to facilitate the distribution of new school textbooks in Central African public schools. Finally, part of the aid will be devoted to strengthening the CAR’s contribution to the organization of elections, a key element in consolidating democracy and stability in the country.

The Central African Minister of Finance stressed that this budgetary aid will accelerate the ongoing economic and financial reforms, thus contributing to greater transparency in public spending and the transformation of the country. This initiative is part of a roadmap signed last April between Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Faustin-Archange Touadéra, marking a new beginning in Franco-Central African cooperation.

In conclusion, this financial agreement represents a major step forward for the CAR in terms of support for development and stability. It demonstrates France’s commitment to supporting the CAR in its quest for economic and social progress, while strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
