The massive presence of Mbororo nomadic herders in the Yakoma region of North Ubangi province threatens the food security of local residents. These foreigners, armed and ready to do anything to protect their herds, frighten local farmers who hesitate to cultivate their land. Fiston Gala, president of the Yakoma territorial youth council, warns of the urgent need to intervene to avoid an imminent food crisis. It is crucial to take measures to guarantee the safety of local populations and protect their livelihoods in the face of this threat.
The issue of food security has become a major concern for the population of Yakoma territory, located in the province of Nord-Ubangi. Indeed, local sources have warned of the growing risk of food insecurity due to the massive presence of nomadic Mbororo herders from South Sudan in the region.

Reports indicate the arrival in columns of these herders who invade the cultivable areas to graze their herds. The presence of these foreigners armed with rifles, ready to protect their livestock by all means, creates a climate of fear among local farmers. The latter hesitate to frequent their fields or carry out their usual activities in the forest, fearing violent reprisals from the Mbororo herders.

Fiston Gala, president of the Yakoma territorial youth council, has launched an urgent appeal to the competent authorities to intervene and find a solution to this alarming situation. He points out that the growing presence of pastoralists in several groups in the territory is jeopardizing the food security of the inhabitants, who are now unable to exploit their lands and meet their food needs.

The growing anxiety among the population of Yakoma is manifested in the fear of going to the fields and cultivating the land, which suggests an imminent food security crisis.

This situation raises crucial questions about the management of agricultural and pastoral resources, as well as the need to preserve the rights of local communities to exploit their lands in a safe and sustainable manner. It is imperative that concrete measures are taken to guarantee the security of the local populations and protect their livelihoods in the face of this imminent threat.
