The success of this workshop demonstrates the importance of stimulating creativity in young people to promote their personal development and intellectual development.
Fatshimetrie, November 5, 2024 – Creativity and learning were in the spotlight at the Mgr Bokeleale-Lisanga primary school in the commune of Gombe, in Kinshasa. Indeed, 102 students, including 66 girls and 36 boys, participated in a writing workshop led by the writer Christian Gombo Tomokwabini in the school library.

The objective of this workshop was to stimulate the students’ creativity, enrich their knowledge and accelerate their learning of new narrative techniques. For Hilaire Sangu, a teacher-librarian at the school, it was also about detecting the students’ creative potential and encouraging them in this aspect.

The writing workshop was built around two main exercises. First, the students were invited to describe their teachers, in order to work on their ability to find the right words to depict a person. This first exercise aimed to encourage children to become familiar with the art of description and to explore the richness of language.

The second exercise was based on the acrostic. Students had to choose a name, place it vertically and assign a word to each letter that follows. This fun and creative activity allowed children to explore word associations and free their imagination to create original compositions.

Following the success of this workshop, a second meeting is planned for next Thursday, again at the Mgr Bokeleale-Lisanga school library. The organizers are delighted to see students investing themselves with such enthusiasm in these writing activities, real springboards for their personal development and intellectual development.

In short, this writing workshop perfectly illustrates the importance of stimulating creativity in young people from a very young age. By offering them opportunities to explore the world of words and writing, we encourage them to develop their artistic sensitivity and their capacity for expression. Let us hope that these initiatives will multiply to inspire and nourish future generations of literary talents.
