Fatshimetrie, October 28, 2024 – The sky in the Democratic Republic of Congo is expected to be eventful on Tuesday, as evidenced by the weather forecast from the National Agency for Meteorology and Remote Sensing by Satellite (Mettelsat). Indeed, sixteen provinces of the country are expected to be affected by changing atmospheric conditions, with clouds, thunderstorms and rain on the agenda.
If we look at the temperatures, we can observe striking contrasts. Thus, temperatures of up to 34°C are expected in Kikwit and Bandundu, while the city of Goma will record a minimum temperature of 19°C. These differences highlight the climatic diversity that characterizes the DRC.
The provinces of Kwango, Kwilu, Tshuapa, Equateur, Mongala, Sud-Ubangi, Bas-Uélé, Haut-Uélé, Tshopo, Maniema, Sankuru, Kasaï, Lomami, Kasaï Oriental, Kasaï Central and Haut-Lomami are expected to experience cloudy skies with thunderstorms and rain. In other regions such as Ituri, Nord-Kivu, Sud-Kivu, Tanganyika, Lualaba and Haut-Katanga, precipitation will occur under cloudy skies, while thunderstorms accompanied by rain are expected in Kasaï province.
Residents of Kinshasa and the provinces of Kongo Central, Kwilu, Maï-Ndombé and Nord-Ubangi should also prepare for scattered thunderstorms accompanied by rain. Particular attention is paid to the strong winds that will blow in Kolwezi, but also to the heavy rains that could affect the city of Lisala, with precipitation estimated between 15 and 19 mm.
This weather bulletin issued by Mettelsat highlights the importance of staying informed about the weather conditions in the DRC, in order to best prepare for bad weather.
