It is essential to note that the image used in this post dates back to February 2023, during Pope Francis’ apostolic visit to Kinshasa. Thus, it is obvious that this false information was created from scratch to sow confusion and disinformation.
It is imperative to emphasize that no official communication has been issued by the Holy See regarding the suspension of Cardinal Ambongo. In reality, Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besungu has never been restricted in the exercise of his functions nor prohibited from speaking on matters relating to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Fridolin Ambongo was appointed Archbishop of Kinshasa on November 1, 2018, and then elevated to the rank of cardinal during the consistory of October 5, 2019.
