Fight against diseases in the DRC: the free screening campaign in Kinshasa promises major progress

Kinshasa, October 15, 2024 – The fight against diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and malaria is a major concern in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The free screening campaign recently launched in Kinshasa highlights the importance of early detection, awareness raising and preventive measures to reduce the risks associated with these pathologies.

According to Patrick Ilunga, coordinator of the NGO Amour en Manifestation (AEM), these diseases, although formidable, can be successfully managed through early detection. The campaign aims to provide free screening for diabetes, high blood pressure and malaria to populations in remote areas of Kinshasa, with the aim of improving the quality of life of the inhabitants.

Dr. Léon Mubiala, doctor in charge of the “Fatima” health center, underlines the significant impact of these diseases on public health in the DRC. Screening is an essential step in the management of high blood pressure, diabetes and malaria, and allows patients to be directed towards appropriate treatments.

Furthermore, Joachim Damoshka, representative of the NGO AEM, highlights the importance of collaboration between local authorities and partner associations to ensure the success of such awareness and screening campaigns. The commitment of the NGO AEM to supporting vulnerable populations and promoting a more united and equitable society demonstrates its desire to actively contribute to improving public health in the DRC.

In conclusion, the free screening campaign for diabetes, high blood pressure and malaria in Kinshasa represents a major initiative in the fight against these diseases. By raising awareness among the population, promoting early diagnosis and providing appropriate care, it contributes significantly to promoting the health and well-being of the region’s inhabitants.
