Fatshimetrie, October 11, 2024: A crucial meeting was held yesterday at the Kinshasa provincial police station, in the north of the Congolese capital. The main objective of this meeting was to assess the current security situation in the city. Indeed, Deputy Divisional Commissioner Kilimbalimba chaired this meeting, the first since its rehabilitation.
One of the salient points discussed during this meeting concerns the tracking down of perpetrators of vagrancy and begging who are rampant on the main arteries of Kinshasa. The Commissioner announced vigorous action in this regard, in order to guarantee security and public order in the capital. In addition, a reinforced fight against road incivility was also mentioned.
Another crucial aspect discussed during this meeting is the problem of staffing within the police. The authorities have stressed the need to end illegal detachments of police officers, in order to strengthen the number of personnel on the ground and ensure an effective presence in all neighborhoods of Kinshasa. From now on, each service bulletin must be approved by the UPHP commander and signed by the provincial police commissioner.
It is important to note that this meeting marks the return to office of Deputy Divisional Commissioner Blaise Kilimbalimba, after more than a month of suspension for a case relating to the eviction of a French diplomat. His recent rehabilitation was officially confirmed on October 8, and this meeting is his first activity as commander of the national police in Kinshasa.
This meeting demonstrates the authorities’ determination to strengthen security and public order in Kinshasa, and to address with determination the security challenges facing the city. It marks an important step in the fight against crime and insecurity, and demonstrates the authorities’ commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and promoting a peaceful and law-abiding living environment.
