Strengthening discipline and collaboration within security forces in the DRC

Fatshimetrie, October 10, 2024 – The military and police forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo were recently mobilized and reaffirmed in their duty and discipline during a joint ceremony that took place in Mbandaka, in the province of Equateur, located in the northwest of the country.

The Commissioner General of the Congolese National Police, Benjamin Alonga Bony, spoke at this parade to remind the troops of the fundamental values ​​that govern their profession: discipline, apoliticism and respect for basic principles. This initiative aimed to raise awareness among the military and police on the importance of maintaining exemplary behavior, as well as strengthening collaboration between the various services of the State.

In his speech, the Commissioner General stressed the importance of collaboration between the military and political-administrative authorities, emphasizing the need to eradicate all malicious behavior and to promote harmony within the security forces. He also stressed the crucial role of discipline in the proper functioning of the army and the police, stressing that any body without discipline cannot effectively fulfill its mission.

After the mixed parade that took place at the police station of the commune of Wangata, senior officers of the armed forces and the police were invited to participate in a meeting at the governorate of the province. During this meeting, the commissioner general reiterated the recommendations made during the parade, emphasizing values ​​such as mutual respect, obedience, and collaboration between the FARDC and the PNC, emphasizing that they are “children of the same family” working for the same interests.

The meeting ended with a question-and-answer session between the chief divisional commissioner and officers of the two bodies, thus allowing for deeper discussions and further strengthening ties between the security forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This approach demonstrates the importance given to discipline and cohesion within the Congolese law enforcement and military, highlighting the authorities’ commitment to promoting a respectful and efficient working environment to guarantee the security and stability of the country.
