Fatshimetrie, October 07, 2024. The recent relocation of the taxi-bus parking lot in Kinshasa to the vicinity of the city’s general referral hospital, formerly known as Mama Yemo, as well as the zoological garden, has been successfully implemented, marking a major turning point in the quest to clean up the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This initiative, initiated by decision of the governor of the city of Kinshasa, aims to clean up the city’s busy areas, starting with the space in front of the governor’s office. By moving the taxi-bus parking lot to Mama Yemo and the zoological garden, the authorities have succeeded in dislodging pirate markets and eliminating waste, thus providing the residents of Kinshasa with a healthier and more pleasant environment.
The deputy senior commissioner of the Kinshasa city police, Deogracias Nyembo, stressed the importance of this decision to ensure cleanliness and order in the city. This action was warmly welcomed by the Kinshasa population, who regularly frequent these public spaces and who have long suffered from the nuisances caused by informal markets and abandoned waste.
It should be noted that under the previous administration of Governor Kimbembe Mazunga, the square in front of the governor’s office had been developed with the planting of lawns, thus providing an aesthetic and conducive place for meetings and souvenir photos of the inhabitants of Kinshasa.
In conclusion, the relocation of the taxi-bus parking lot in Kinshasa to Mama Yemo and the zoological garden marks an important step in the city’s efforts to improve the cleanliness and well-being of its residents. This decision demonstrates the desire of local authorities to positively transform the urban space and create a more harmonious environment for all residents of Kinshasa.
