“It’s not about what she did to me, it’s about what society did to us. At the time, I didn’t even have the means, so it was real love. Real love and words of affirmation. There was a moment when I was in her dorm and I heard her friends ask her, ‘Honey, what are you doing with Oxlade?'” he shared.
This painful moment had a profound effect on Oxlade and changed his outlook on love and relationships. He said: “I was at the door and when I walked in, their attitude changed. It broke me and from that day on, I saw the patterns change, until I saw her with the same boy she claimed she wasn’t close to.”
“It was at a very early stage in my life, during my down time. It was the moment I understood that love can be beautiful, but it’s not everywhere. You can’t find true love everywhere and you have to be lucky, God must want you to meet love before you find it,” he concluded.
