Fatshimetrie: Operational Training at Military Headquarters Sokoto
The recent operational training held at the Military Headquarters Sokoto addressed critical issues in coordination and use of technology in military operations. Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, Commander, 8 Division, Nigerian Army and Commander, Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji, stressed the importance of collaboration between the Army, the various services and agencies in a joint environment.
Under the theme “Harnessing New Technologies for Innovative Operation Planning Process by Commanders in a Joint Environment”, General Ajose highlighted the critical role technology plays in modern military operations. He stressed the need for commanders to understand and harness these technologies to enhance operational effectiveness and achieve mission success, given the dynamic nature of modern warfare.
The Commander recalled that the security environment is rapidly evolving and the current challenges are multidimensional, complex and often transcendent. Commanders must be able to synchronise their efforts, share intelligence and make informed decisions in real time. This requires a new way of thinking and planning that integrates innovation and technological advancements.
The operational training is in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy, which aims to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped and highly motivated force to fulfil our constitutional responsibilities in a joint environment. General Ajose stressed that the training will enable participants to debate and make meaningful contributions to develop effective plans to address the operational and administrative challenges facing the Nigerian Army in various theatres.
To maintain their professionalism and stay ahead of potential adversaries, the General said it is essential to constantly evolve strategies and methodologies. He encouraged the participants to use this opportunity to refine their strategies, enhance their capacities and be fully prepared to meet future challenges in joint operations.
The Commander expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja for his support and encouragement as well as to all security agencies in the state for their cooperation and understanding.
The operational training at the Military Headquarters in Sokoto was therefore an opportunity to highlight the importance of innovation, adaptability and the use of cutting-edge technologies in planning modern military operations. This proactive and modernity-oriented approach will enable the Nigerian Army to meet current and future challenges with efficiency and determination.
