The Emir of Ningi, Alhaji Danyaya, passed away on Sunday morning after a long illness at a hospital in Kano. Secretary of the Ningi Emirate Council, Alhaji Usman Sule confirmed the death in a statement on Sunday.
The Emir died at the Expert Alliance Hospital in Kano, two days after returning from a medical trip to Makkah on August 22. According to Sule, the Emir’s funeral prayer will be held at the Emir’s palace in Ningi at 4pm.
The demise of Alhaji Danyaya leaves a void in the governance of Ningi Emirate, marking the end of a reign that witnessed rapid social and economic transformation. Appointed in 1978 as the first ruler of Bauchi State, his leadership shaped the development of the Emirate.
Born in Ningi in 1936, Danyaya was educated at Ningi Elementary School between 1941 and 1946, and Bauchi Middle School from 1946 to 1951. His educational background illustrates his commitment to education, a value he undoubtedly passed on to his community.
Emir Danyaya left behind an indelible legacy, having worked for the well-being and progress of his people. His reign will be marked by his unwavering dedication to the emancipation and advancement of the Emirate of Ningi.
