Fatshimetrie, August 11, 2024 – The recent scientific days organized at the University of Lubumbashi (Unilu) have captured the attention of tourism and innovation enthusiasts. The event, centered on the theme “Innovation and creation of tourist sites in Haut-Katanga”, was a real catalyst for innovative ideas for the region.
Jean-Marie Dikanga Kazadi, Academic Secretary General of Unilu, underlined the importance of this multidisciplinary theme which brought together experts in architecture, spatial management, geography and other related fields. The objective was clear: to identify and promote potential tourist sites in the Haut-Katanga province.
Among the sites studied, the Unilu 2 site particularly attracted attention. Located only 25 kilometers from the city of Lubumbashi, this agropastoral site is full of natural resources, with the Lubumbashi River running through it. Professor François Muyembe stressed that Unilu 2 met nearly 80% of the criteria for an ideal tourist site, covering an area of eight thousand hectares.
However, despite its potential, the Unilu 2 site must be protected from threats such as land grabbing and bush fires. Professor Muyembe warned that a thorough environmental study was needed to transform this site into a renowned tourist destination for the province.
These scientific days have therefore paved the way for new perspectives for tourism development in Haut-Katanga. By focusing on innovation and the creation of sustainable tourist sites, the experts present demonstrated their commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the region and promoting responsible tourism.
At a time when the tourism sector is undergoing major changes, these initiatives are essential to ensure balanced and environmentally friendly development. By working closely with local communities and taking into account environmental issues, Haut-Katanga could become a must-see destination for lovers of adventure and authentic discoveries.
In conclusion, the scientific days on innovation and the creation of tourist sites in Haut-Katanga have opened the way to new horizons for tourism in the region. It is now up to local stakeholders and authorities to put these innovative ideas into practice to offer visitors a unique and unforgettable experience in the heart of this natural jewel.
