The fight for security and peace: Benue Governor strongly condemns recent attacks

Benue Governor, Mr Alia, has strongly condemned the recent spate of attacks by armed bandits on innocent and unarmed citizens. The indiscriminate violence has spread terror among the population, despite the increased presence of security forces in the area.

In a statement issued by his Director of Press, Sir Tersoo Kula, and shared with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi, the Governor expressed deep concern over the barbaric acts. The people of Benue, particularly those in Ukum, have been facing the pangs of incessant attacks for some time now.

Alia affirmed his unwavering resolve to continue employing lawful methods to protect the people of Benue and ensure the safety of residents, especially in Ukum, which has become the scene of the recurring violence. He also called on security agencies to step up their surveillance and not leave vulnerable communities unprotected.

The Governor also extended his condolences to the bereaved families of this tragedy, praying that God will comfort them in this difficult time. The need for immediate action to put an end to these ruthless killings highlights the urgent need to strengthen security measures and ensure continued presence to protect civilians under threat.

As the people of Benue mourn their dead and recover from these heinous attacks, it is imperative that the authorities act decisively to ensure security and peace in the region. The protection of citizens must be a top priority, and officials must remain vigilant to protect vulnerable communities from any form of aggression.
