The interim governor, Félicien Kiway, highlighted this reality during a recent assessment of the security situation.
Every day, security services report clashes related to the struggle for customary power, jeopardizing peace in the region. It is alarming to note that these conflicts originate from the rivalry between different individuals seeking to appropriate traditional functions within the groups. The governor pointed out the alleged role of political actors, accused of orchestrating these conflicts to serve their interests.

The customary conflict resolution commission, created in 2019, unfortunately finds itself inactive due to a lack of financial resources. This situation further weakens the resolution of disputes and leaves fertile ground for tensions between communities. It is imperative to revitalize this commission and grant it the necessary resources to accomplish its mediation mission.
