Fatshimetrie, the essential news source for the Democratic Republic of Congo, takes you today to Kisangani, in the province of Tshopo, where a mixed delegation of national deputies and representatives of Snel recently carried out a mission to assess the rehabilitation work on the electricity distribution networks in Lubunga, on the left bank of the city.
Led by the Director General of Snel, Fabrice Lusinde Wa Lusangi Kabemba, this delegation was driven by the desire to take a close look at the situation of electricity supply in the region and to accelerate the rehabilitation of group 1 of the Tshopo hydroelectric power plant. This approach is part of a close collaboration between local authorities and the electricity company, aimed at improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of Kisangani.
The rehabilitation work, financed in particular by the Special Fund for Reparation and Compensation for Victims of Armed Activities of Uganda in the DRC (Frivao), was carefully assessed during this mission. The Director General of Snel also took the time to discuss with the region’s deputies and senators the progress made and the challenges to be met to ensure a stable and reliable electricity supply to the population of Kisangani.
During their field visit, the members of the delegation were able to see the progress already made, in particular the work underway at the Tshopo hydroelectric power plant, a tangible sign of the authorities’ commitment to meeting the region’s energy needs. The delegation also visited the Lubunga General Hospital, where they had the opportunity to discuss with the President of the Kisangani Provincial Assembly, who is also a doctor at the facility, the challenges of electrification for the health sector.
This assessment mission marks an important step in the process of stabilizing and improving the electricity supply in Kisangani. It demonstrates the willingness of local authorities and Snel to work together to ensure equitable access to electricity in the region. Thanks to initiatives such as the Frivao Project, the electrification of the city of Kisangani is well on track, offering new prospects for development and prosperity for its inhabitants.
Fatshimetrie will continue to closely monitor the evolution of this situation and keep you informed of future developments in the field of energy in Kisangani and throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo. Stay connected so you don’t miss any of the news that shapes our daily lives.
