Debunking the alleged tunnel under the Limete interchange: investigation and revelations

In the world of captivating information and surprising facts, the show “Fatshimetrie” looks into a rumor that has ignited social networks, particularly on the Facebook platform. Since June 19, 2024, a video has aroused excitement and curiosity by claiming to reveal a secret tunnel hidden under the Limete interchange, thus propelling this emblematic place of Kinshasa into the heart of a virtual controversy. According to the legend which accompanies this intriguing sequence, this underground tunnel, departing from the Limete interchange, would lead travelers to various destinations in the capital, including the N’Djili international airport.

However, after further investigation, it was revealed that the video in question distorted reality. Indeed, it does not at all show a hypothetical tunnel hidden under the Limete interchange, but rather the Dodge Hill tunnel, located across the Channel, in Manchester.

To shed light on this mystery and disentangle fact from fiction, Moïse Esapa, journalist and fact checker at Balobaki Check, a platform specializing in tracking disinformation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, undertook a meticulous investigation. At the heart of this quest for the truth, the rumor spread on the Congolese digital space was dispelled, offering Internet users a clarified perspective on this enigmatic story.

This case once again demonstrates the importance of verifying facts and discerning information relayed on digital channels. Social media provides fertile ground where stories mingle, sometimes to the detriment of the truth. Thus, it is up to everyone to exercise a critical and informed look at digital content, in order to distinguish reality from illusion, truth from deception.

In short, this story of the so-called tunnel under the Limete interchange, although fictional, raises questions about the way in which information spreads and the need to cultivate a vigilant mind in a digital world where the boundaries between reality and fiction can often fade.
