Behind the attempted coup in Kinshasa: disturbing revelations and political issues

The attempted coup d’état that occurred in Kinshasa on May 19 continues to fuel debates and questions among the Congolese population. The substantive investigation into the case relating to this event began on July 1 before the military court at Ndolo prison, attracting everyone’s attention.

Among the 51 defendants involved in this case, Yusufu Ezangi, accused of criminal participation, was the first to intervene during this public hearing. His statements brought to light disturbing revelations behind the scenes of this alleged plot.

Yusufu mentioned his meeting with Christian Malanga in 2017 in London, citing close ties between the two men within a non-governmental organization whose name he did not know. This relationship led them to the DRC, within the “New Zaire” movement, without him really understanding its ins and outs.

The objective put forward was to apprehend Vital Kamerhe and take him to the Palais de la Nation for reasons that are still unclear. Yusufu recounted the progress of this incredible operation carried out by the gang, from their arrival at Kamerhe to the intrusion at the Palais de la Nation, thus sealing their ephemeral takeover.

The defendant’s statements have made it possible to partially understand the contours of this complex case, but many gray areas persist. The question of the responsibility of each of the defendants in these dramatic events remains at the center of the debates, sparking lively exchanges between the defense and the public prosecutor.

With the next hearing scheduled for July 5, anticipation remains palpable about future revelations and evidence that could shed more light on this case. The political and legal issues surrounding this case continue to arouse the interest and concern of the Congolese population, in search of truth and justice.

Ultimately, the Kinshasa “coup” affair raises crucial questions about the country’s political stability and the integrity of its institutions. The repercussions of this event will remain etched in the collective memory, calling for increased vigilance and total transparency in the search for the truth.
