The launch of the 2023-2024 State Examination (Exetat) in the Democratic Republic of Congo marked the start of a crucial stage for thousands of finalists across the country. The tests began on a note of concentration and determination, with the traditional general knowledge test which allowed the candidates’ knowledge to be tested in various fields.
During recent exam sessions, students highlighted several important points regarding the topics covered and the conditions for taking the exams. Some felt confident in the questions asked, citing examples such as the question about the first country to produce palm oil and pepper, or the source of energy in Algeria. Others encountered difficulties, particularly on more complex or unexpected issues, such as the celebration of “White Cane Day”, a little-known holiday for some candidates.
The organization of the exam was also highlighted by the finalists, who appreciated the kindness of the center managers. Some noted positive aspects such as the availability of supervisors and the establishment of good conditions for participants. However, challenges were also mentioned, such as the lack of replacement papers for damaged items, which can be a source of stress and confusion for candidates.
As the tests continue with science and other subject-specific tests, finalists are expected to demonstrate precision, concentration and revision to achieve the best possible results. With nearly a million finalists and more than 42% girls participating in this Exetat session, it is essential that each candidate has the opportunity to give the best of themselves and to promote their skills and knowledge acquired while throughout his school career.
In conclusion, the State Examination remains a decisive stage for Congolese students, marked by challenges but also by opportunities to surpass themselves and show their level of preparation. The encouragement and support of education professionals are essential to support candidates in this intense and determining period of their education. May this Exetat 2023-2024 session be a springboard towards new educational and professional horizons for all the finalists engaged in this academic adventure.
