Ring Road Revolution: Kinshasa is transforming for the future

The titanic work on Kinshasa’s ring roads has finally been launched, illuminating the horizon of the Congolese capital with hope and progress. This bypass, skilfully linking the different southwest and southeast parts of the city, promises to transform the face of Kinshasa by offering a strategic solution to its road congestion problems.

Part of President Félix Tshisekedi’s 2024-2028 five-year plan, this colossal project demonstrates the ambitious vision of the Congolese government to modernize and optimize the capital’s infrastructure. Designed and supervised by the Congolese Agency for Major Works (ACGT), this major project aims to respond to the growing challenges linked to the galloping demographics of the Kinshasa metropolis.

The ring roads, true vital arteries of the metropolis, will extend for kilometers, forming a 360-degree belt around the city. The first two sections unveiled, the southwest ring road and the southeast ring road, represent the beginnings of a profound and structuring transformation for Kinshasa. This project, the result of a prospective study carried out since 2014, promises to connect neighborhoods, relieve congestion on major arteries and facilitate the mobility of residents.

The concerted deployment of key players such as the Ministry of Public Works, ACGT and Sicomines, as well as the implementation of a rigorous strategy of supervision and control of the works, guarantee the reliability and quality of future works. . With a substantial budget and careful planning, this project promises to be a major milestone in the modernization of Kinshasa’s infrastructure.

This initiative, part of the review of the Sino-Congolese partnership, demonstrates the Congolese government’s commitment to strengthening strategic ties with its international partners for sustainable and balanced development.
