Kinshasa, June 23, 2024 (ACP/IRNA) – The Iranian capital, Tehran, is hosting a meeting of international importance today: that of the foreign ministers of the member states of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD). This meeting, which brings together representatives from 35 Asian countries as well as heads of regional and multilateral organizations, is of crucial importance in the diplomatic landscape of the region.
The Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) is an intergovernmental platform established in 2002 with the aim of strengthening cooperation and exchanges among Asian nations. Its primary objective is to promote the independence of Asian states through cooperation and mutual assistance in development matters. By encouraging economic cooperation and trade among member countries, the ACD aims to increase the competitiveness of the Asian region on the global stage.
The vision of multilateralism and regionalism promoted by the Islamic Republic of Iran, host country of this meeting, illustrates its desire to play a leading role in the construction of a united and internationally influential Asian Community. Alongside Iran, the ACD brings together countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, China, Japan, Russia, India and many others, creating a diverse and inclusive platform for regional cooperation in Asia.
By fostering cooperative ties between Member States and working to strengthen regional integration, the ACD hopes to contribute to the consolidation of peace, prosperity and sustainable development in Asia. This meeting of Foreign Ministers marks an important step in the realization of this common objective and the consolidation of relations between Asian countries.
By bringing together representatives from diverse geographic, cultural and political backgrounds, the Asian Cooperation Dialogue illustrates the diversity and richness of the Asian region, providing a space for discussion, exchange of ideas and search for solutions common to the challenges facing the region. This meeting thus constitutes a unique opportunity to strengthen ties of solidarity and cooperation between Asian nations, contributing to the construction of a common and harmonious future for the entire region.
