The political world of the Democratic Republic of Congo was in full turmoil in recent days, as the National Assembly closed its March session in record time. Under the leadership of Vital Kamerhe, the Assembly office was pleased to have successfully completed a busy program in just 15 days, including essential tasks such as the establishment of the 21 parliamentary groups, the adoption of the 2024 budget, the inauguration of the government and the approval of its action program.
Jacques Ndjoli, rapporteur of the National Assembly, expressed his satisfaction with the speed and efficiency with which these different stages were accomplished. He underlined the importance of parliamentary groups as political units essential to the proper functioning of the National Assembly, as well as the crucial role of the thematic commissions and the committee of wise men.
Among the highlights of this session, we will also note the adoption of the budget of the National Assembly for the current year, as well as the preparation of the 2025 budget, which will be submitted to the government for validation. The approval of the government’s action program and his inauguration also marked this intense period of parliamentary activity.
Jacques Ndjoli stressed the need to take into account the observations of the deputies, reflecting the expectations of the Congolese people in terms of infrastructure, basic social needs such as health and education, as well as the implementation of projects of development and opening up of remote areas of the country.
While the June session has ended, national elected officials are already preparing for the next session in September, during which numerous projects and proposed laws will be examined and adopted. This intense period of parliamentary activity testifies to the commitment of the representatives of the people to work for the well-being and development of the Congolese nation.
