The incident dates back to last Monday, when law enforcement captured the suspects in Abraka, Ethiopia East local government of the state.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed to journalists on Thursday in Warri that the arrest followed a thorough investigation by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Fabian Ayameh, of Abraka police station. The case was brought to the attention of authorities by the father of the individual believed to have orchestrated his own kidnapping.

According to the complainant’s statements, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 50 million naira in Bitcoin for the release of his son, accompanied by a video showing the young man tied up and subjected to acts of torture. A most alarming situation which immediately mobilized the police.

Following a preliminary investigation, it was established that one of the suspects, Jerry Lawrence, allegedly conspired with the alleged victim to fake the kidnapping. It turns out that the young man in question was a fourth year student at Delta University (DELSU), Abraka.

This case has caused unrest in the local community and raised questions about the motivations behind this alleged act of self-kidnapping. The authorities continue to carry out in-depth investigations to elucidate all the ins and outs of this case, and to ensure that justice is served.
