Exceptional seizure of narcotics in Abuja: A hard blow for traffickers

In recent news from the Fatshimetrie agency, a significant seizure of narcotics was made in Abuja. Femi Babafemi, spokesperson of the agency, revealed this on Sunday, highlighting a joint operation between the NDLEA, the Customs Service and other security agencies.

This seizure, carried out last Friday, follows closely on the heels of a similar operation where 175,000 bottles of an identical substance were intercepted at the port complex in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. This new discovery, of equally significant magnitude, highlights the importance and effectiveness of efforts to counter drug trafficking in the region.

According to information provided by Babafemi, these seizures were made possible thanks to advance intelligence, prompting the agency to conduct a careful examination of the shipments. The latest seizure of 875 boxes containing 175,000 bottles of codeine, with a total weight of 26,250 kg, testifies to the determination of the authorities to fight against this scourge.

Meanwhile, in a similar context, officers of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigations of the NDLEA intercepted, on Wednesday, June 5, five separate packages containing illicit drugs concealed in women’s clothing and hair extensions destined for the States -United States and United Kingdom.

These operations demonstrate the authorities’ continued commitment to thwarting drug trafficking networks and protecting public health. Vigilance and cooperation between different security agencies are essential to prevent the spread of illicit substances and contribute to the safety of the population.

Ultimately, these seizures and interventions underline the importance of concerted and effective action to combat drug trafficking, a scourge that affects not only society but also the stability and security of the region. The commitment of the authorities and coordination between the different actors are essential to face this challenge proactively and decisively.
