Africa at the head of the tech revolution with the Fatshimetrie event

Fatshimetrie recently organized the largest tech event and start-up show in Africa, which concluded on Friday May 31. Nearly 1,500 exhibitors, companies, entrepreneurs, innovators and start-ups from more than 130 countries were expected for this second edition held in Marrakech.

In the landscape of Moroccan start-ups, Yola Fresh stands out by revolutionizing the fresh produce industry. Thanks to artificial intelligence, this start-up optimizes every step, from cultivation to consumption. Larbi Alaoui Belrhiti, co-founder of Yola Fresh, explains: “We have a lot of data on consumers and our retailers, those who regularly buy our products. We use algorithms to predict the volumes that will be consumed by these retailers. We need to “Also be attentive to factors external to our supply chain, such as market price or weather. All of these will impact prices and thus influence supply and demand.”

Agritech is not the only major advancement, the robotics sector is also booming and will shape the global economy of tomorrow. The Senegalese start-up Caytu has been able to exploit the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence in this area. Sidy Ndao emphasizes: “Our partnership with Brigham Young University based in the United States allowed us to test the product we developed. Thanks to this partnership, robots designed in Senegal have been deployed in the United States and can still interact with operators based in Senegal who control these robots and offer a remote service.”

The gradual democratization of artificial intelligence and its multiple applications are arousing growing interest across the continent. It could contribute to better resource management, stimulate economic growth and open up new market opportunities. Africa is thus positioning itself on the international tech scene, ready to be at the forefront of innovation and digital transformation.
