Critical analysis of Tinubu’s economic impact: Ohanaeze declares unwavering support

Wednesday, May 29, 2024 marked exactly one year since Buhari completed his second term and handed over the reins to Tinubu.

Despite available data suggesting that the economy has taken a turn for the worse under the current administration, with food inflation and the cost of goods soaring, Ohanaeze believed that the President was on the right trajectory.

This was mentioned in a statement issued on Wednesday by Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Secretary General of the group.

“Despite legacy challenges such as a backward economy, looting of the public treasury and deteriorating infrastructure, Tinubu has demonstrated the political will to overcome these obstacles more effectively than the previous eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari” , the statement read in part.

Ohanaeze says South East is progressing under Tinubu

According to Isiguzoro, the current administration has adopted a contrasting approach to governance compared to the Buhari government, under which the South-East region was subjected to deliberate economic suppression.

“During the Buhari regime, the South East as a region faced ‘deliberate and targeted economic suppression, leading to conflict and insecurity’.”

However, despite Ohanaeze’s claims of progress under Tinubu’s administration, it is essential to step back and analyze economic and social data objectively. It is essential not to get carried away by political declarations and to ensure that any progress is measured in a concrete and tangible way for the population.

Ultimately, it is the concrete and lasting results that will prove the success or failure of a political administration. It is therefore crucial to remain vigilant and continue to critically evaluate the performance of leaders based on facts and real data, rather than relying solely on partisan statements.
