Extension of the Bukavu International Fair: A crucial issue for economic players in the region

The Bukavu International Fair, an unmissable event for economic operators in the region, is in full swing under the marquee in the Labotte district. The aisles are full of various products, works of art and food products, attracting the curious eye of visitors looking for discoveries and good deals.

However, a few days before the closing, a unanimous request came from the exhibitors present. Originally from Burundi, Tanzania and various provinces of the DRC, they are requesting an extension of the fair from three to four days. The reason ? The difficulties encountered by the Tanzanian delegation, some of whose goods are blocked in Uvira due to tax disputes with the Congolese authorities.

This legitimate demand is justified by the desire of economic operators to see their products sold and valued. Unfortunately, the low number of visitors slows down the sale of the goods on display. An extension of the fair would thus breathe new life into commercial exchanges and guarantee exhibitors fair remuneration for their efforts.

Paulin Zingulula from CIAT, aware of the issues, affirms that measures are underway to meet the expectations of exhibitors, particularly the Tanzanian delegation. It is essential to support these economic players who sometimes come from far away to participate in this major event in the region.

Beyond commercial issues, the Bukavu International Fair is a real place for meetings and exchanges between the different economic players in the Great Lakes region. It offers the opportunity to build lasting connections, discover new business opportunities and promote the diversity of local and regional products.

By extending the fair, we not only support the economic operators present, but we also contribute to the influence of Bukavu as a regional economic hub. The commercial dynamic driven by this event helps strengthen ties between neighboring countries and promote the economic development of the region.

Thus, the request for extension of the Bukavu International Fair is not limited to a simple adjustment of the calendar, but embodies a real issue of support for local and regional economic actors. This is an opportunity to demonstrate that cooperation and regional solidarity are the keys to sustainable and prosperous economic development for all.
