**Workshop on tolerance and cohabitation in Kolwezi: A crucial step towards unity and peace**

Since Wednesday, May 8, the town of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba is hosting an event of capital importance: a workshop focused on tolerance, cohabitation between communities and the consolidation of peace. This initiative brings together a diversity of participants ranging from traditional leaders to socio-cultural associations, non-governmental organizations to political parties, students to religious denominations, state services to teaching and medical bodies, and even artisanal mining operators. For four days, these crucial actors will come together to reflect together on the notion of living together.

The instigator of this workshop, Lambert Menda, underlines the need for such an approach in the face of the seeds of conflict present in the province of Lualaba, particularly after the recent elections of governors in April 2024. According to him, it is imperative to organize awareness-raising actions to promote tolerance, encourage cohabitation between communities and strengthen peace within society. As the breeding ground of a cultural mosaic, the province of Lualaba cannot afford to move away from these fundamental values.

Through this workshop, a strong message is sent to the inhabitants of the region: the election of governors must not be the breeding ground for tensions and disputes. No matter what faith we belong to, it is necessary to cultivate tolerance and learn to live together, in mutual respect and harmony essential for the well-being of all. Differences should not be a source of division, but rather an enrichment promoting unity and solidarity.

In a context where declarations are pouring out following the publication of provisional election results, the need to strengthen dialogue, understanding and mutual respect appears more urgent than ever. As disputes emerge, wisdom and the desire to seek peaceful solutions must be at the heart of the reflections of all actors involved. A dispute is underway, and it is up to the Lualaba Court of Appeal to decide fairly, while respecting democratic values and the unity of the country.

In conclusion, the workshop on tolerance and cohabitation in Kolwezi represents a crucial step towards unity and peace in the Lualaba province. This event offers the opportunity for different actors to come together, exchange and together build a future where diversity is celebrated and where peace is a common goal. Let us hope that the discussions held over these four days will bear fruit and contribute to strengthening ties between communities, for a more just and balanced society.
