The race against time to establish the final office of the National Assembly in the DRC

The question of establishing the final office of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Congo is at the heart of current political debates. The “Dynamique Surveillance”, bringing together the deputies wishing to see this process move forward, issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the president of the provisional office, Christophe Mboso, to continue this implementation.

This group criticizes the provisional office for blocking the functioning of the lower house of parliament. Indeed, according to DYNASUR, the provisional office goes against the Internal Regulations of the National Assembly by delaying the constitution of the final office.

The DYNASUR declaration highlights the importance of respecting the deadlines established by the internal regulations of the National Assembly for the establishment of the final office. The proper functioning of this institution is crucial for the country, particularly in the context of major security challenges, such as the growing insecurity in eastern DRC.

The publication of a calendar by the provisional office initially provided for the election and installation of members of the final office on May 8. However, logistical constraints prevented the implementation of this schedule, pushing the process to a later date.

Faced with this blockage, it is necessary to find a rapid and consensual solution in order to allow the National Assembly to fulfill its missions in a complex political context. It is essential that all political actors demonstrate responsibility and willingness to dialogue to overcome the current obstacles.

While awaiting a resolution to this impasse, it is essential that the various political actors work together to ensure the proper functioning of democratic institutions in the DRC. The interest of the people must be placed at the center of political decisions, in order to guarantee transparent and democratic governance for the country.

In this context, the question of establishing the final office of the National Assembly is of major importance for the political future of the DRC. It is essential that this process takes place in compliance with democratic rules and deadlines set by the internal regulations of the parliamentary institution.
