Reconstruction of the Kibali bridge: new hope for the province of Haut-Uele

Residents of Haut-Uele province have witnessed a major event in recent days, with the launch of reconstruction work on the Kibali bridge. Located on the Kibali River and linking the mining town of Durba to the territory of Watsa, this bridge is of crucial importance for the region. Unfortunately, it collapsed last February, thus hindering trade and access to this part of the territory.

Under the leadership of the administrator of the Watsa territory, Dieudonné Magay Missa, the reconstruction work has finally begun. Divided into three stages, this work promises to breathe new life into this strategic axis. The first phase consists of the demolition of the old deck, followed by the reinforcement and widening of the roadway. Finally, a new metal type deck will be installed, offering a load capacity of 60 tonnes. It is essential that the authorities ensure that this tonnage is respected to guarantee the sustainability of the structure.

The contribution of the Kibali Gold company through the specialized organization responsible for managing the allocation of 0.3% of turnover greatly facilitated the implementation of the work. With a deadline of ninety days, these should be completed within a reasonable time frame. The official inauguration of the work was marked by the presence of numerous political, administrative and customary authorities, thus underlining the importance of this work for the region.

Beyond the simple reconstruction of a bridge, this work symbolizes the desire to boost the local economy and promote regional trade. They also demonstrate the commitment of both public and private actors to invest in infrastructure essential to the development of the province. Hopefully this work will help improve the quality of life of residents and strengthen ties between the different communities in the region.

In conclusion, the reconstruction of the Kibali bridge in the province of Haut-Uele is a crucial step for the economic and social development of the region. By emphasizing the importance of transport infrastructure, this work opens the way to new opportunities for residents and local economic players. It remains to be hoped that this investment will bear fruit and contribute to the influence of this beautiful region of the DRC.
