In the heart of Africa, the volatile North Kivu region of the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to be the scene of violent clashes between armed forces and rebel groups. More recently, the town of Minova and the surrounding hills have been the center of intense fighting, causing deep concern among the local population and displaced people.

The deafening sounds of artillery fire have echoed for several days, plunging the region into a climate of fear and confusion. The armed forces, supported by artillery fire, are trying to push back the M23 rebels entrenched in the hills of Bitonga, Kalambairo, and Buyaga. Unfortunately, this violence has already led to human losses and material damage, accentuating the distress of populations already weakened by years of conflict.

In this particularly tense context, the daily life of the inhabitants of Minova is deeply disrupted. Travel is restricted, socio-economic activities are paralyzed, and even religious practice is compromised by the constant fear of explosions. This anxiety-provoking atmosphere pushes many residents to huddle in small groups, watching with apprehension as the situation develops, while others seek refuge in safer areas.

Displaced people from Masisi, already traumatized by previous violence, are forced to continue their flight towards South Kivu, in the hope of finding safe shelter. This forced wandering poignantly illustrates the humanitarian drama unfolding in this region torn apart by armed conflicts and political rivalries.

Faced with this rise in tensions and persistent violence, the population of Minova lives in constant fear of an escalation of the conflict and a new wave of violence. Waiting anxiously for better days, the inhabitants of this city scarred by fighting try to preserve their dignity and their humanity, despite the ordeals they continue to endure. They deserve the attention and support of the international community to overcome these challenges and rebuild a future of peace and stability in this tormented region.
