Morocco, a country grappling with severe challenges posed by drought, is currently hosting the prestigious SIAM, a major international agricultural exhibition in Meknes. Celebrating its 16th edition, the focus of this event is on enhancing climate resilience and sustainability within the agricultural sector.
Comprising the participation of over 70 countries and 1,500 exhibitors, the exhibition serves as a pivotal gathering for industry stakeholders. Anticipating an estimated 800,000 visitors, the event showcases a diverse array of agricultural products and services, including fruits, vegetables, fertilizers, and irrigation systems from various regions of Morocco and beyond.
Beyond showcasing innovations and expertise, SIAM serves as a platform for fostering dialogue and exchanging experiences among agricultural players. It also presents attendees with the opportunity to explore new business prospects and expand their professional networks.
Given Morocco’s current agricultural challenges due to drought, the timing of this edition is critical. To address water scarcity issues, the Ministry of Agriculture has implemented significant measures such as establishing new seawater desalination stations.
Organized by the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture, SIAM is renowned as the largest agricultural event in Africa. In this edition, Spain was designated as the guest country of honor, underscoring the strong agricultural ties between the two nations.
Running from April 22 to 28, the event offers a unique platform to promote innovation, sustainability, and agricultural development in Morocco and Africa. It reflects the industry’s commitment to addressing the impacts of climate change and fostering a resilient and prosperous agricultural future.
