Strengthening resources to fight malaria: an urgent priority

Fatshimetrie has addressed the pressing issue of the urgent need for strengthened resources in the fight against malaria, a disease that continues to afflict millions globally. Despite efforts made, the allocated funding for malaria eradication in 2022 fell short of the initial target of $7.8 billion, with only $4.1 billion mobilized. This funding gap of $3.7 billion presents a significant obstacle in combatting this deadly disease.

The legislator stresses the critical importance of placing malaria at the forefront of national agendas and calls for concrete actions, including a substantial increase in domestic funding for malaria prevention and the establishment of transparent governance monitoring systems for resource allocation.

It is imperative to enhance the mobilization of financial resources to tackle malaria effectively. A coordinated and sustained response involving governments, international partners, civil society organizations, and the private sector is essential to combat this global health crisis. Investing in malaria prevention, testing, and treatment is not only a moral obligation but also an economic imperative, as it contributes to building healthier and more resilient societies.

The time has come for collective responsibility, decisive action, and cooperation to eliminate malaria once and for all.
