Promote and protect the rights of people living with disabilities in the DRC: DYNAPROD’s urgent appeal to Prime Minister Judith Suminwa

The National Dynamics for the Promotion and Development of People Living with Disabilities (DYNAPROD) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are fiercely advocating for the protection and empowerment of individuals with disabilities. In a recent press conference in Kinshasa, the organization’s president, José Zubi, issued a pressing plea to Prime Minister Judith Suminwa to champion the rights of this vulnerable group.

Zubi commended the strides made in the DRC during the President’s first term, particularly the enactment of laws designed to safeguard and advance the interests of people living with disabilities. Notably, DYNAPROD lauded the decision by the Minister of the Civil Service to introduce a 5% quota for the recruitment of individuals with disabilities in the public sector. This policy seeks to foster inclusivity in the professional sphere and eliminate discriminatory hiring practices.

It is crucial to recognize that protecting individuals with disabilities goes beyond mere administrative actions; it necessitates societal awareness to foster their integration and independence. Upholding the fundamental rights of all individuals, regardless of their capabilities, is a cornerstone of an inclusive and compassionate society.

DYNAPROD’s appeal to Prime Minister Judith Suminwa echoes a call from civil society for collective enlightenment to secure a fairer and more egalitarian future for people with disabilities in the DRC. It is incumbent upon every citizen, public entity, and society at large to contribute to the creation of a world where diversity is celebrated, and where everyone can freely exercise their rights and liberties.
