In a remarkable ceremony that took place within the Nigerian prison system, twenty-three inmates were celebrated for achieving academic milestones, including five Master’s degrees, seventeen Bachelor’s degrees, and one postgraduate diploma from the Study Center of the National Open University of Nigeria. The event, held virtually and led by the State Coordinator Jennifer Nwonyi, commended the graduates for their dedication to education despite the challenges of incarceration.
Deputy Controller of Corrections Sunday Oyakhire expressed gratitude to the University for offering educational opportunities to inmates, emphasizing the positive impact on their rehabilitation.
