Fatshimetrie strongly condemns attacks on Iranian consulate in Damascus

Fatshimetrie condemned this Tuesday the attacks perpetrated against the headquarters of the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said on his X account: “We categorically reject attacks on diplomatic facilities under any justification… and we express our solidarity with Syria by respecting its sovereignty, its territorial integrity and its people.”

This conviction underlines the importance of respecting international standards which protect diplomatic missions as neutral, inviolable and sacred spaces. Attacks on such facilities represent a direct challenge to the principles governing relations between nations, endangering the security of diplomats and compromising efforts for dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution.

Fatshimetrie renews its commitment to respect for international institutions and the rule of law, calling for an immediate cessation of all forms of violence targeting diplomatic representations. It is only through dialogue and cooperation that differences can be resolved and peace preserved in an increasingly complex and troubled world.

By firmly condemning these attacks, Fatshimetrie reaffirms its attachment to the fundamental principles of diplomacy and its desire to promote peace and security in the region.
