At a press conference held in Kaduna, the Zone Communications Secretary of a political party, Musa Mada, conveyed the party’s stance on criticisms from the opposition. Mada emphasized the importance of constructive criticism within the bounds of freedom of expression.

The focal point of the discussions revolved around the former governor of Zamfara State, Matawalle, who faced severe attacks from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the current opposition. Mada highlighted the gravity of the accusations against Matawalle, stating they could not be overlooked.

In response, Mada called upon the authors of what he termed as “fake news” to substantiate their claims, specifically regarding the distribution of food supplies. He demanded a public apology in two national newspapers within a fortnight from Sunday for those failing to respond by the deadline.

Should there be no response by the stipulated date, legal actions will commence against the detractors from April 14, 2024. Mada expressed distress over the malicious intent of certain elements, particularly in Zamfara, who aim to tarnish their party leaders through various media channels.

He also criticized the opposition government in Zamfara State for its consistent efforts to tarnish Matawalle’s reputation. Mada contended that defaming a party member equates to an attack on the core principles of their political entity. He firmly stated that questioning the integrity of political figures who have devoted themselves to serving the public’s interests is unacceptable.

In essence, Musa Mada’s stance during the press conference underscored the significance of responsibility and ethics in political discourse. Upholding democratic values while fostering open dialogues is crucial for safeguarding the integrity and credibility of political figures.
