Title: Strengthening security in Lagos: Positive results obtained by the police
Since taking office at the Lagos Police Command, Commissioner Fayoade recently revealed his satisfaction with the results achieved by his team. Indeed, during a press conference held last Wednesday, he announced several arrests, including of suspects linked to criminal activities such as cultism, armed robbery and kidnapping.
During the search operations carried out in different hotspots of the state, a total of 2,253 individuals were apprehended and among them, several have already been charged to court, while others will follow soon.
Among the acts of arms in recent months, Commissioner Fayoade reported the arrest of 64 suspects, including robbers, members of brotherhoods and others involved in the illegal possession of firearms and illicit drugs. In addition, a series of seized items were listed: 20 firearms, including toy guns, live ammunition and cartridges, vehicles, electronic payment machines, machetes, illicit drugs and amulets .
Furthermore, the commissioner stressed that the effectiveness of operations carried out by the police is based on a professional approach and a desire to maintain the security of all citizens. He encouraged his subordinates to redouble their efforts and not tolerate any improper behavior within their ranks.
Through a reorganization of the security architecture and an intensification of patrols, the Lagos Police Command has managed to reduce cases of pickpocketing. This achievement was made possible through the collaboration of the media and other security agencies, but requires continued cooperation.
