“Displaced children in North Kivu: an urgent reality that requires immediate international action”

Displaced children in North Kivu are living in unacceptable conditions, a painful reality that was highlighted during a recent meeting between activist Rebecca Kavugho and the Belgian Queen, Mathilde. This discussion session highlighted the critical situation in which these innocent young people find themselves, forced to flee their homes and abandon their education.

Rebecca Kavugho testified to the desperation of these children, who spend their days without constructive activity and rely on charity and humanitarian organizations for food. She made an urgent appeal to the international community to provide adequate funds to support these displaced young people, while putting in place protection mechanisms to ensure their well-being.

The activist also highlighted the ongoing crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a situation often forgotten or misinterpreted by the international community. She urged world leaders to raise awareness of the suffering of the Congolese and adopt appropriate approaches to resolve this deep crisis.

It is crucial that we listen to the cries for help from displaced populations and act in concert to bring about meaningful change. Ignoring the crisis in Congo or spreading false narratives would only worsen an already precarious situation. It is our duty to properly inform and support efforts to improve the lives of these vulnerable children.

Together, by listening attentively and acting decisively, we can help transform the reality of displaced children in North Kivu and provide a better future for these innocent young people.
