In his recent statement, French President Emmanuel Macron strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Crocus City in Moscow, stressing that it would be cynical and counterproductive for Russia and its citizens to blame Ukraine for this heinous act.
Macron warned against any attempt to exploit this attack, stressing the importance of not ignoring the facts and remaining vigilant about opportunistic speeches that could arise from this tragedy.
The French President expressed his solidarity with the Russian people, affected by this Islamist terrorist attack, reaffirming France’s support for Russia and offering its assistance in matters of intelligence.
He stressed that the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, and that France and its main allies considered an Islamic State entity to be responsible for its planning and execution. Macron also mentioned that this same entity had been involved in several attempted attacks in France in recent months, thus justifying the French government’s decision to raise the level of terrorist threat in the territory.
It should be noted that following the attack, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the “perpetrators” were heading towards the Ukrainian border before being captured, although the Islamic State had already claimed responsibility for the attack . Ukraine has categorically denied any involvement in these events.
Emmanuel Macron therefore called for caution and international cooperation to face the terrorist threat, highlighting the need to remain united in the face of this global scourge.
