“Political transition in the DRC: What future for the country?”

Following the resignation of the government in the Democratic Republic of Congo and in accordance with the directives of the Head of State, precautionary measures were put in place to ensure the smooth running of public affairs during this transition period.

According to an official statement read by the President’s Chief of Staff, Guylain Nyembo, current affairs will be managed with prudence, covering daily management and national emergencies. Additionally, restrictions were imposed, such as the suspension of recruitment and non-essential public spending, as well as travel abroad for members of the government.

The resignation of the previous Prime Minister, Sama Lukonde, paves the way for the appointment of a new government after recent elections. In the meantime, informant Augustin Kabuya is consulting political forces to form a new parliamentary majority.

Sama Lukonde, who led the government for more than three years, contributed to the political transition by taking the helm of Union Sacrée, a coalition formed by President Tshisekedi. His departure marks a new stage in the Congolese political landscape.

This period of transition offers an opportunity to rethink national priorities and strengthen institutions for a better future. The next few days will be decisive in defining the direction that the Democratic Republic of Congo will take in the months to come.

This new political configuration raises questions about the future of the country, but it also offers opportunities for change and progress. It is essential that political actors and civil society work together to consolidate democracy and guarantee a better future for all Congolese.
