“Humanitarian crisis in the DRC: Urgent coordinated action against attacks by ADF rebels”

In the current context in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the situation remains alarming with the intensification of attacks by ADF rebels in the Banyari-Tchabi chiefdom, 120 kilometers south of Irumu, Ituri province. . This violence has disastrous repercussions on the socio-economic life of the region, endangering the security of residents and hindering the development of agricultural activities.

The insecurity caused by repeated attacks by ADF rebels has led to the deaths of several people, as well as massive displacements of the local population. Residents are now avoiding going to their fields, for fear of reprisals from these armed groups, which directly impacts food production and worsens the already precarious humanitarian situation in the region.

Ugandan army forces have attempted to repel the attackers on several occasions, but the persistence of these attacks highlights the need for joint and concerted action to dismantle the ADF rebel group. Local authorities and civil society are calling for urgent intervention by joint DRC-Uganda forces to guarantee the security of the populations and allow the resumption of socio-economic activities in the region.

Faced with this critical situation, it is essential that the international community mobilizes to support the efforts of local authorities in the fight against the insecurity and armed violence plaguing eastern DRC. It is essential to put in place concrete and effective measures to protect civilians, restore peace and promote sustainable development in the region.

In conclusion, the intensification of attacks by ADF rebels in the Banyari-Tchabi chiefdom represents a major challenge for stability and security in eastern DRC. An urgent and coordinated response is needed to end this violence, protect civilian populations and create the conditions conducive to a peaceful and prosperous future for all.
