“Cry of alarm: Insecurity hits campuses and threatens the lives of students”

Title: Insecurity threatens the lives of students in educational establishments

Recent attacks by armed assailants on a vocational training institution have spread fear among students. Sadly, one person lost his life during the attack, while others were seriously injured. In addition, three female students were allegedly victims of rape.

Testimonies collected from students reveal that these heinous acts sowed panic within the student community. The attackers invaded the dormitories, firing shots and violently attacking the young people present.

An advanced degree student at the institution, on condition of anonymity, shared his fear: “Armed men continue to invade our dormitories, shooting students and raping young girls. During their first incursion last Thursday, They injured a student and sexually assaulted two students.”

Another testimony reveals that a student died during the attack. “One student was shot and killed, others were injured by machete blows. In addition to the rapes, the attackers shot a male student. He is currently hospitalized with serious injuries.”

Faced with this tragic situation, the Rector of the institution, Professor Emmanuel Achuenu, took the decision to temporarily close the establishment to ensure the safety of students. Classes should resume next Monday, February 26, in the hope of returning to a climate conducive to learning.

These shocking events raise questions about the security of educational establishments and the protection of students. It is crucial to put enhanced security measures in place to ensure a healthy and safe environment for all learners.
