“Atrocity in Kokola: The terror of ADF fighters reaches an unbearable level”

**The atrocity in Kokola: the sad reality of terror**

The night of Saturday to Sunday February 18 will remain engraved in the memory of the inhabitants of Kokola, Beni territory in the North Kivu region. This community was once again the victim of violence by ADF fighters, who sowed terror by beheading at least two civilians with machetes. Witnesses report that the attack took place around 9 p.m., a situation which plunged the locality into horror.

The victims, men sleeping in their homes, were brutally executed with machetes, leaving behind an atmosphere of fear and despair. Sabiti Njiamoja, delegate of the governor in Eringeti, affirms that the events took place south of Kokola, in a place called Uro Uro. This barbaric act not only caused the loss of innocent lives but also spread terror among the local population.

Unfortunately, the tragedy did not end there. Another attack was recorded in the same locality the next day, leaving a climate of uncertainty and vulnerability among residents. ADF fighters have struck once again, persisting in their cycle of violence and terror.

Faced with this unbearable situation, it is urgent that concrete measures be taken to protect the civilian population and put an end to these atrocities. The international community must mobilize to support efforts to guarantee security and stability in the North Kivu region, so that such tragedies do not happen again.

In these dark times, our thoughts are with the victims of this unacceptable violence, as well as their families and loved ones. It is essential to firmly condemn such barbaric acts and do everything possible to ensure justice is done to the victims. Peace and security are fundamental rights, and it is our duty to defend them for all.

In this period of mourning and contemplation, let us remain united and committed to a future where violence and terror will no longer have their place.
