“Deadly violence in the DRC: attacks by the M23 terrorist group cause many victims in Mweso”

Conflict and violence continue to ravage the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), making it one of the deadliest regions in the world. Recently, the M23 terrorist group carried out attacks in Mweso, North Kivu province, causing numerous casualties.

According to information from the Congolese army, the bombings carried out by M23 terrorists caused the death of 19 people and injured 27 others. These attacks targeted homes located in the heart of the town of Mweso, affecting many innocent civilians.

In a reaction to these heinous acts, the Collective of Victims of Rwandan Aggression (CVAR-ONGDH), a human rights NGO, condemned these attacks and called on international judicial bodies to take measures to end the situation in areas controlled by the M23.

The CVAR-ONGDH denounces the actions of the M23-RDF-UPDF and accuses these terrorist groups of deliberately targeting civilian populations. They call on the Congolese government and the international community to act immediately to counter these outlaws whose objective appears to be the extermination of civilians.

The recent attacks in Mweso are unfortunately not an isolated case, as armed clashes have persisted in the region for more than two decades. Local populations live in constant fear of violence and violence around them, which pushes them to seek refuge in medical facilities or supposedly safer places.

It is urgent that the international community provide a strong response to this situation in the DRC. It is important to support the Congolese government in its efforts to ensure the security of its citizens and put an end to the activities of terrorist groups such as the M23.

The tragedy unfolding in the DRC must attract the attention of the whole world. It is essential to put in place measures to protect civilian populations, punish the perpetrators of this violence and promote stability and peace in the region.

The news in the DRC is alarming, but it is essential to continue to inform and raise awareness about the tragic events taking place there. Let us hope that the international community will take concrete steps to end this violence and bring justice to the victims of these atrocities.
