Evaluation meeting of the 2024-2028 roadmap: key measures to improve education in the DRC

The news article we are going to talk about today concerns the evaluation meeting of the five-year roadmap 2024-2028 of the Ministry of Primary Secondary and Technical Education (EPST) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This meeting, chaired by Minister Tony Mwaba, aimed to discuss measures to be taken to improve the quality of education in the country.

During this meeting, several senior officials from the ministry took the floor to share their proposals. The national director of DINACOPE, Papy Mangobe, stressed the importance of updating the mapping of payroll sites in areas where banks are not established. He also proposed using new information and communication technologies to facilitate the payment of teachers’ salaries and the operating costs of primary schools.

For his part, the inspector general at EPST, Jacques Odia Musungayi, insisted on the importance of recruiting teachers in a meritocratic manner. He mentioned the organization of competitions to select the most qualified candidates and the establishment of an admission test for students in order to guarantee their academic level.

The five-year roadmap 2024-2028 was partially adopted during this meeting. Certain activities still require a more detailed presentation by the general secretariat and the general inspectorate of the EPST. A next meeting is planned for Thursday, January 25 to continue discussions.

It is encouraging to see that the Ministry of Primary, Secondary and Technical Education in the DRC is truly committed to improving the quality of education. The proposed measures, such as the use of new technologies and the selection of teachers by competitive examination, are important steps towards quality education for all Congolese students. Let us hope that these efforts will bear fruit and contribute to the development of education in the DRC.
