Dr Olayide Adelami confirmed as Deputy Governor of Nigeria’s Ondo State
In a recent development, Dr Olayide Adelami has been confirmed as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State in Nigeria. The announcement was made by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa who sent the nominee’s name to the parliament for screening and approval.
Upon resumption of plenary on Thursday, the letter was read on the floor of the house by Benjamin Jayeola, the clerk of the assembly. The motion for the submission and consideration of the House’s Selection Committee’s report on the nominee was moved by Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, APC/Owo 1, and seconded by Hon. Felix Afe, Akoko North West 2/APC.
Speaking on the report, Abayomi Akinruntan, Ilaje 1/APC and Chairman of the Selection Committee, highlighted Dr Adelami’s impressive track record and experience. He emphasized that the nominee is physically and mentally fit for the position of Deputy Governor.
Following the discussion, a voice vote was conducted, ultimately resulting in the confirmation of Dr Olayide Adelami. The Speaker of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, urged the nominee to use his office for the growth and development of the state and to foster a good relationship between the executive and legislative branches.
Expressing his gratitude, Dr Adelami recognized the weight of the responsibility bestowed upon him and pledged to serve to the best of his abilities. He also extended his condolences to the family of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who passed away on December 27th after a prolonged illness.
In his new role, Dr Olayide Adelami aims to bridge the gap between the executive and legislative bodies and work towards reconciling the aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His confirmation brings renewed hope for progress and development in Ondo State.
