Sharing data with your loved ones has become commonplace in today’s digital world. Whether it’s staying in touch, sending money, or simply exchanging files, data is essential. Fortunately, MTN, one of the leading network providers in Nigeria, has made data sharing possible with its data donation feature. Thanks to MTN Data Gifting, you can buy data plans for other smartphones, modems and tablets. It is not only a way to share, but you can also request data from your loved ones.

Who can share MTN data?

MTN data sharing is available to all MTN customers. As long as you have an MTN line, you can share your data with anyone. Depending on the amount of data or credit you have on your MTN line, you can transfer data packages ranging from small to larger amounts.

What do I need to share MTN data?

To share MTN data, you will need the recipient’s phone number, sufficient data balance on your phone, or sufficient credit to purchase data for that person.

How to share MTN data with friends and relatives?

Now that you understand the entire MTN data sharing process, here’s how to do it using two methods:

Method 1:

To share MTN data with someone, simply dial *321*2# or *312*8# on your phone.

One of these codes will bring up a menu with several options.

Transfer from data balance: Select this option if you want to share your own MTN data with someone. Simply type 1 in the box provided and press “Send”.

Buy for a friend: The second option in this menu allows you to buy a data plan for someone from your phone. This means you will not be charged for your own MTN data balance. Type 2 in the box provided and press “Send.”

Ask a Friend: As mentioned earlier, you can use the MTN data donation feature to request data from your family or friends. This is the reason for this third option. Simply type 3 in the box provided and press “Send” if you are interested in this option.

View Pending Requests: This option allows you to view pending MTN data requests. Type 4 in the box provided and you will see the menu displaying your pending requests.

Transfer from data balance:

If you choose the first option, you will be redirected to a menu where you will need to enter the recipient’s phone number. Simply enter the phone number of the person you want to share MTN data with and click “Send”. You will then access a new menu asking you how much data you want to transfer. Click “Send” to confirm the transfer.

Buy for a friend:

If you select the “Buy for a friend” option, another menu will appear asking you which MTN data plan you want to purchase for your friend. You can choose from daily, weekly or monthly MTN data plans to purchase for the recipient. You will then see the amount that will be debited from your credit for the chosen package. Next, you will be asked to enter the recipient’s phone number.

Ask a friend:

By choosing this option, you will access a new menu where you will need to enter the phone number of the person from whom you want to request MTN data. Enter the number and press “Send”.

Method 2:

If you don’t want to follow the process detailed above, there is another simpler method to share MTN data with your friends and family. Here are the corresponding codes:

Transfer data:

If you want to share MTN data directly from your data balance, simply dial *312*Phone number*Data amount# or send a message with the text “Transfer Phone number Data amount” to 312.

It is important to note that the maximum amount of MTN data you can transfer per day is 3GB.

Buy data for a friend:

If you want to purchase MTN data for someone using your credit, simply dial *312*Plan activation code*Recipient’s phone number#.

Request data from a friend:

If you want to request MTN data from a friend or family member using a single command, simply dial *312*7*3#.

By following these methods, you will be able to easily share MTN data with your friends and family. Remember to check your data balance and credit before transferring or purchasing data to ensure you have enough resources. Stay connected and share data with those around you!
